Maximizing your canoeing experience

When you canoe, bring the important stuff and travel lite. First and foremost, a PFD is required for each canoeist. It can save yor life in an unexpected situation. The Morgan's do a good job of cleaning up the rivers from seasonal debris, but new debris can accumulate without warning. To maximize your experience, let the complete canoeist at right illustrate some of the things you might bring on your trip.

Canoeing is an assumed-risk sport. There are no safety personnel along the river. However, extra care is taken to ensure that your self-guided canoe trip is as safe as possible. Morgan’s provides U.S. Coast Guard approved P.F.D.’s (personal flotation devices), a safety briefing and free “on water” instructions for beginners at your request. In addition, a portion of our staff is Red Cross certified in Basic First Aid and CPR.

The U.S. Coast Guard reports that the majority of boating accidents involve alcohol, therefore, we require that you save the alcohol for after your trip and wear a life jacket. We are proud to provide American Canoe Association instructors on staff at both locations.

IMPORTANT: All guests are required to read, understand and sign an assumption of risk and liability waiver before participating in any activity at Morgan’s. We have been camping at Riverside for 15+ years and canoeing at Morgans since the early '70's. The campground is clean and well maintained and the management is excellent, friendly and camper oriented. The campsites are spacious and private, and the afford a great river experience. We have spoken with other campers, ranging from an individual on a one night stay to scout groups to week long family campers and all rate Riverside a superior place to pitch camp. We would highly recommend Riverside to anyone who loves the outdorrs and a great camping experience.

Made our reservations back in February. When we showed up everything was set to go. Everyone was polite for our 2 night stay. Only 10 minutes from Kings Island and easy directions. We stayed one of the new cabins no electricity but wasn't a big deal we brought a lantern. Cabins were very clean and for restroom convenience the behind the cabins were out houses that were cleaner than most rest areas we stoped at on the way. Family orientated no alcohol and for both nights we heard no loud parties. For our experience 5 out of 5 stars.
